Enter the 2024 Yearbook and Literary Magazine Contests

GSPA is now accepting General Excellence and Individual Award contest entries for yearbooks and literary magazines published in the 2023-24 academic year.

There are three special Individual Award categories this year: Health, Environmental and Social Justice Reporting.

The deadline to submit to the contests is Aug. 31, 2024. Awards will be announced via a virtual awards ceremony on Nov. 15, 2024. All winners will be celebrated during the Spring Awards banquet TBA.

Membership is required to enter all GSPA competitions. All memberships expire at the end of the current academic year.

Registration Deadline Approaching for Free Summer Advisers Workshop

Mercer University's Center for Collaborative Journalism and GSPA will partner to host a High School Journalism Advisers Workshop June 6-7 on Mercer's Macon campus. The deadline to register is May 17.

Now is the best time to renew your membership for the 2024-25 academic year in order to take advantage of the discounted early bird rate of $40. The membership fee for a second adviser from the same school is only $10.

Last chance to attend UGA’s Summer Media Academy

Spend a week at the University of Georgia immersed in one of the following subject areas: Advertising and Public Relations, June 10-14; Broadcast Journalism, June 10-14; Multimedia Journalism, June 17-21; and Entertainment and Media Studies, June 17-21. Registration is now available on the UGA Summer Academy’s website. Participants are accepted on a rolling basis. There is a max of 20 participants for each camp.

Behavioral Health Journalism Excellence Competition launching next school year

A new competition for the 2024-25 academic year is designed to recognize middle school and/or high school journalists in Georgia who excel in reporting on behavioral health issues. Entries should demonstrate a deep understanding of behavioral health, avoid stigmatizing or stereotyping language, and include the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) 988 end card. Articles published between Aug. 1, 2024, and Jan. 31, 2025, will be eligible. Visit this page for more criteria and other details.

Energetic and engaged students interested in expanding their leadership skills, bringing a new vision and shaping GSPA are invited to apply to be part of the GSPA Student Ambassadors program. Applications are due Aug. 31, 2024.
