Who will be the next Georgia Journalist of the Year?

Each year, GSPA recognizes the top senior student journalist in the state with the Georgia Champion Journalist Award. The winner receives a cash prize and represents the state in the Journalism Education Association's National Journalist of the Year competition. There is also a competition for juniors. Submit your entry by Jan. 21, 2025.

Monetary awards announced for Behavioral Health Journalism Excellence Competition

A new competition for the 2024-25 academic year is designed to recognize scholastic journalists in Georgia who excel in reporting on behavioral health issues. The deadline to enter is Feb. 1, 2025.

Spring contests now open

Submit your best work from broadcasts, newsmagazines, newspapers and news websites for the General Excellence competition and Individual Awards. Additionally, Achievement Awards are open to all publication types. For details and entry forms, go to www.ugagspa.org/spring-competitions . The deadline to enter is Feb. 1, 2025.

Summer Media Academy 2025 preview

Mark your calendars! Registration opens Jan. 15 for the 2025 Summer Media Academy in June. Choose from weeklong programs in Advertising and Public Relations, Broadcast News, Entertainment and Media Studies and Multimedia Journalism. Limited need-based scholarships are available.
