2019-20 GSPA Student Advisory Board—Applications open in August!

Interested in becoming a Student Advisory Board member? Applications for the 2019-20 academic year will be available in mid-August for a two-week period. Watch on social media, in the e-Bulletin and here on the website for more information!

The board is open to Georgia high school juniors or seniors connected with the publications or productions of their representative schools. The students' publications or productions must be current Georgia Scholastic Press Association members. Terms will last the academic year through May 2020.

Duties include assisting at the Fall Conference on Sept. 19, 2019, presenting awards at the Spring Awards in April 2020, attending virtual board meetings, and generally serving as ambassadors to promote GSPA.

The 2018-19 GSPA Student Advisory Board members were:

  • Avery Householder—Calvary Day School

  • Azariah Chester—Lake Oconee Academy

  • Cassidy Hettesheimer— Mill Creek High School

  • Isabelle Manders—Marietta High School

  • Paul Nickles— Thomson High School

These students demonstrate a deep commitment to their school’s media programs and a desire to better the scholastic journalism experience for high school students across the state.

Throughout the year, the Student Advisory Board will be serving as ambassadors who promote GSPA in their schools and communities, liaisons who strengthen communication between their high school media programs and GSPA and leaders who bring new vision and ideas to GSPA.
