On-the-Spot Photo Contest winners named from Winter 2022 Conference

On Feb. 10, 2022, students attended the Winter Conference at the Tate Student Center in Athens, GA. Over the course of the day, 32 entrants explored the theme of “Reflection” for the On-the-Spot Photography Contest. There were many amazing images, according to the judges, and they said they had quite a challenge to narrow down the top photos. The winners are as follows:

First Place: “A Senior’s Reflection”

Moriah Germany, Mary Persons High School, 12th Grade

Judges’ Comments: “This is so simple, yet so relatable and aspirational to any student. The fact that the mannequin doesn't have a face, makes it more possible to see yourself as the graduate.”

Second Place: “The Camera Reflects the Truth”

Caroline Franklin, McIntosh High School, The Legend Yearbook, 9th Grade

Judges’ Comments: “The caption makes the image poignant, truthful and worthy of recognition.”

Third Place: “Reflection”

Lauren Wimberley, The King’s Academy, The Crest Yearbook, 12th Grade

Judges’ Comments: “Reflection (Lauren Wimberley, The King's Academy) — A thoughtful and well-constructed mosaic of images from the day. We loved the translucent nature of the images that portrayed the theme in a harmonious way.”

Honorable Mention “Bookstore Reflections”

Alex Johnston, Mary Persons High School, MPTV, 10th Grade

Judges’ Comments: “There are so many fun lines in this pictures and the off-kilter angle made it visually interesting. We are still trying to figure out exactly how this was taken!”
