Fall Conference brings hundreds of scholastic journalists to Athens

Scholastic journalists attend GSPA’s Conference at the UGA Tate Center on Oct. 24, 2023.

More than 800 students and teachers from more than 40 schools across the state attended GSPA’s Fall Conference on Oct. 24, 2023, at the University of Georgia.

The conference theme of “Momentum” was suggested by Wes Harrison, a senior GSPA Ambassador from Marietta High School. “As journalists, we’re constantly moving: toward the next story, toward new mediums, toward new horizons. For all this, we need ‘momentum’ to keep us moving forward,” he noted.

The conference featured five rounds with more than 40 sessions covering a wide range of topics relevant to scholastic journalists, such as student press freedoms, media literacy, behavioral and mental health coverage and many more.
