SPLC to celebrate sixth annual Student Press Freedom Day

The Student Press Law Center is celebrating the sixth annual Student Press Freedom Day Feb 22, 2024. Student journalists and their supporters are encouraged to celebrate their achievements, express their First Amendment freedoms and raise awareness about the challenges that they face.

This year’s theme is “Powerfully Persistent,” reflecting the courage, resilience and commitment to the pursuit of truth demonstrated by student journalists every day.

To spread the word about Student Press Freedom Day, the SPLC is encouraging all student journalists to post using #StudentPressFreedom on personal and official publication accounts. In support of students’ op-ed work for Student Press Freedom Day, the SPLC also features an “op-ed crash course” on their website with a video hosted by veteran CNN & New York Times Journalist Steven A. Holmes.
