North Springs High School's Adam Throne named GSPA's 2026 Adviser of the Year
/Adam Throne, adviser of the Oracle news website and the Echo literary magazine at North Springs High School, has been selected as GSPA’s 2026 Adviser of the Year. The award recognizes a journalism teacher who goes beyond the “call of duty” in supporting their staff.
For more than two decades, Throne has been a cornerstone of student voice, creative expression, and journalistic excellence, leading a literary magazine and news website at North Springs High School.
Beyond traditional publications, Throne was instrumental in launching and sustaining the Vox Podcast Initiative, securing major grant funding and supporting students through its first two years, according to one nominator.
Throne’s leadership extends beyond the classroom: he currently serves on GSPA’s Teacher Advisory Council. He has presented at GSPA for years and most recently at the Southern Interscholastic Press Association’s Convention in Columbia, South Carolina.
According to another nominator, “In short, Mr. Throne’s work embodies the very spirit of scholastic journalism. He is principled, student-centered, innovative, and deeply collaborative. His impact on our students and on us, his colleagues, is both profound and enduring. He is more than deserving of this honor.”
Throne was recognized during GSPA’s Spring Workshop and Awards March 18, 2026, at the UGA Georgia Center.
