Student Ambassador Showcase: Siddarth Suresh

GSPA is proud to highlight the amazing work of one of our GSPA Ambassadors, Siddarth Suresh, a senior at Innovation Academy.

Putting the spotlight on our GSPA ambassadors allows them to showcase their published work and skills.

I am the president of The Innovation Academy Beacon, a GSPA Ambassador, a PBS Student Reporting Labs National Student Advisory Team member, and a Vox ATL journalism intern. Through my work, I focus on highlighting healthcare disparities and the challenges facing youth today, while also pursuing research that examines these issues through a biological lens. I am especially passionate about telling stories that amplify underrepresented voices and spark meaningful conversations within my community.

Read Siddarth’s selected published pieces here:

I chose these pieces because they each represent a different dimension of the stories I care most about telling. One focuses on mental health within education systems, another explores cultural identity and how media shapes Gen Z perspectives, and the third highlights youth-driven change. Together, they reflect my commitment to covering issues that are often overlooked but deeply impact young people. They also show how I’ve grown in tackling complex topics with both nuance and empathy.

Serving as a GSPA Ambassador has pushed me to grow both as a communicator and as a leader. I’ve learned how to express my ideas more clearly and intentionally, especially when working with diverse groups of students and educators. At the same time, the role has taught me that strong leadership is rooted in empathy, whether that means uplifting others’ voices or creating space for different perspectives. It’s shaped me into someone who not only shares ideas but also listens with purpose.

I want my work to remind people that they are not alone in what they are going through. By sharing stories that reflect real struggles and experiences, I hope to break down the stigma that often holds young people back from speaking up or pursuing their goals. More than anything, I want my writing to create a sense of connection and understanding. If even one person feels seen or empowered because of something I’ve written, then I’ve done what I set out to do.
