Eight high school students hold framed certificates honoring their work as GSPA Student Ambassadors for 2025-26.

Several members of the 2025-26 class of GSPA Student Ambassadors were recognized during the spring workshop and awards on march 18, 2026, at the UGA Georgia Center.

Ambassadors promote GSPA in their schools and communities, serve liaisons who strengthen communication between their high school media programs and GSPA , and act as leaders who bring ideas to GSPA.

Applications are available online here. In addition to filling out the form, please email (or upload to the application) your resume and a cover letter to gspa@uga.edu with the subject line "2026-27 GSPA Student Ambassadors." The cover letter should be 200-400 words. It should briefly explain your interest in being an ambassador for GSPA. Please also upload or email one teacher recommendation letter.

GSPA Student Ambassadors will ideally consist of representatives from each of the following regions: Region 1 North- Dade County to Richmond County, Region 2 Central- Harris County to McIntosh County, Region 3 South -Stewart County to Charlton County. The selected students will be also representatives of different publication types: newspaper/newsmagazine, online website, yearbook, literary/creative magazine or broadcast.

Additional criteria:

  • GSPA Student Ambassadors is open to Georgia high school juniors or seniors connected with the publications or productions of their representative schools.

  • The students' publications or productions should hold current Georgia Scholastic Press Association membership.

  • Terms will last the academic year through May 2027.

  • Duties include assisting with events (virtual or in-person), attending virtual meetings, and generally serving as ambassadors to promote GSPA. In-person event dates include the Fall Conference Oct. 27, 2026, and the Spring Workshop and Awards TBD. Both are scheduled to take place in Athens. It is not a requirement to attend the events, but it is encouraged.

  • A former GSPA Student Advisory Board member may reapply for consideration for a term as a GSPA Student Ambassador, but those opportunities are limited.
