The award recognizes the top high school senior journalist in the state. Wesley Harrison, digital editor-in-chief for The Pitchfork and an executive producer for the Blue Devil News at Marietta High School, is the runner-up in the competition.

Read MoreMercer University's Center for Collaborative Journalism and the Georgia Scholastic Press Association will host a High School Journalism Advisers Workshop June 6-7 at the Center for Collaborative Journalism on Mercer's Macon campus. The workshop itself will be free to attend and will include sessions on topics such as introduction to audio, introduction to photo and video, writing and editing, and crafting story ideas.
